Which one?
No-drill blind brackets or screwed brackets?
Updated
Dunelm's No Drill bracket has a size limit but no weight figure, and a drill is still needed for the blind's P-clip. Screwed brackets need a drill and a fixing for your wall.
No-drill brackets
- Where it goes
- Where the bracket's maker says it goes. Dunelm describes its own as a
twist-to-tighten No-Drill bracket
. - What it needs
- No drill for the blind itself, but Dunelm says:
Installation of our No Drill blind does not require a drill, but a drill is required to fit the P-clip.
- How it comes down
- Dunelm's page that we hold gives no steps for taking the bracket off, so we give none.
- Which maker's figure applies
- A size limit, not a weight. Dunelm says:
Please note, our No Drill bracket is made to hold roller blinds up to their recommended maximum weight (maximum width 180cm, maximum drop 220cm).
It gives no figure for that weight, so our blinds guide gives no maker rating.

Screwed brackets
- Where it goes
- Screwed to the wall, inside or outside the window recess. Dunelm says:
Our standard bracket option includes brackets and screws designed to be installed on the inside or outside of your window recess. A drill and screwdriver are required to install.
- What it needs
- A drill bit that suits the wall, plugs where it needs them, and a check for cables and pipes first. Wickes says:
If you’re working with plaster, brick or another hard surface, we recommend using wall plugs before securing your screws.
- How it comes down
- The blind slides out of its brackets: Wickes says to
pull the blind up, locate the brackets and the release mechanism on one of the sides.
This is often a clip or a lever, and by releasing it, you can gently slide the blind out of the brackets.
The brackets stay until they are unscrewed, and then the holes stay. - Which maker's figure applies
- We hold no blind maker's weight figure for its brackets, so we show none. What's my wall? gives the plug, drill bit and screw for your wall.
