Put up a curtain pole without drilling
No maker rating
We have found no maker's weight figure for a tension rod or a no-drill pole bracket, so we give no recommendation. Speedy, which makes tension rods, says of them Ideal for nets, voiles and lightweight curtains. Can only be used within a window recess.
No recommendation No maker we checked gives a figure, so we don't guess.

What are tension rods for?
For nets, voiles and lightweight curtains inside a window recess, in Speedy's words. Speedy says: 10-13mm extendable tension rods are made from durable powder-coated aluminium, offering an easy-to-use solution for lightweight curtains, nets, and voiles.
To fit one, its catalogue says twist to the desired length and fit into place

Speedy gives lengths, not weights, and says Wall supports are only included in the 200-250cm tension rod packs.
It does not say how those supports are fixed.
Lightweight is Speedy's word, and it does not say how heavy that is. Without a weight figure we have nothing to compare your curtains with, so we give no maker rating.

Do no-drill curtain pole brackets work?
We cannot say. We could not read a maker's own page for a no-drill curtain pole bracket under our source rules, so we give no answer rather than guess.
How do you put up a curtain pole?
On brackets screwed to the wall. Dunelm's steps for a curtain pole on brackets, in plain words with its measurements in its own, follow the two checks below.
We recommend that your curtain pole sits 10cm above the window, and is longer than the length of your window by 10cm on either side.
- Mark the end brackets and their holes 10cm in from the edges of the window.
If fitting heavyweight curtains or a pole over 180cm, you will also need a central bracket.
- Drill the holes, with plugs if the wall needs them, and screw the brackets on. Check they are in the right place before you tighten every screw fully.
- Loosen the small screw on each bracket's cup, put the pole in, then slide the finials onto its ends and tighten their screws.
- Centre the pole and tighten the small screws in the bracket cups.

Which wall fixing does a curtain pole bracket need?
It depends on your wall. A pole bracket stands out from the wall, so we do not work out a load per fixing for it. Choose “Sticks out from the wall” in What's my wall? and it gives the fixing, drill bit and screw for your wall, with fischer's recommended load for one fixing.
If the pole's maker gives a figure for its brackets, that is a limit too, and the lower of the two applies.
